Sun lotions, also known as sunscreens, sun block or even sun tan, is a gel, spray or ant topical substance that has the ability to reflect or absorb some of the ultraviolet rays that is produced by the sun. In the process, the sun tans usually penetrate the skin and help prevent sunburns. Products that have been used to lighten the skin also contain it since the skin is prone to be affected by the solar. Some lotions usually have a tanning powder that enables the skin to tan or darken.

Sun lotions usually have several ingredients. They contain organic compounds. They help in absorbing the ultraviolet rays. They also contain organic and inorganic particulates that assist in the reflection of the rays. Some products may contain all of them and some may only have one or two. Basically, the sun lotions can be classified according to their mode of action. Physical sunscreens reflect sunlight but chemical tans usually absorb the UV rays.

Thanks to their growing demand and popularity, a debate concerning the use and safety of sun lotions has erupted. They have a bad and good side despite the fact that the American Cancer Society has declared them safe. Some of the benefits they offer include the fact that the skin is kept safe from the radiations and thus skin damage and cancer can be avoided. Secondly, the proteins that are usually found in the skin are maintained at optimum conditions. However, the users are bound to develop melanoma too. People also accumulate higher levels of UVA and they do not seem to realize this.

Focusing on the positive aspects of these blocks, they are very effective and safe to apply. It should be applied twice a day and particularly when the sun is hot. This is like from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. During this period, a lot of UV rays are being radiated. Exposure to such conditions may lead to skin cancer and other conditions too. By applying sunscreen, the proteins that the skin has are maintained too. The end result is a beautiful and healthy looking skin.

People who use sun lotions have reaped several benefits. Aging does not come easy as the skin is well protected. In addition, they are not bound to get melanoma or cataracts as their skins can handle the sun and the rays. They are protected at all times.

People who do not use sun lotions may have some disastrous long term effects. This is because the skin is exposed to the UV rays. Some of the things that they will experience include skin damage, cataracts, skin cancers and a suppressed immune system too.

Beauticians and scientists are in the front line campaigning for people to make use of sun lotions. Basically, sun lotions can be applied at any time but its best applied when the sun is scorching. By doing so, no reflection or UV rays will affect you.. It is then recommended that protective clothing, such as a hat and sunglasses must be worn as a protective measure.

There are set guidelines that an individual should follow while buying or using the sun lotions. Look out for the ingredients and determine if they suit your type of skin. It is advisable not buy the sun lotions based in the price but base your purchase on the intended motive.
