Does Sun Labs Use Dye As An Ingredient In Sunless Tanning Lotions

By Haywood Hunter

Many people do not understand exactly how sunless tanning products work. They think that the way they work is by dying the skin to obtain the tan. This could not be further from the truth. Does Sun Labs use dye in their products? It is a myth that chemicals, dyes or inks of any description are used in these products to color the skin.

Sunless tanning products work by using an ingredient called Dihydroxyacetone (DHA). Does Sun Labs use dye that is a chemical? No, it uses a chemical that works on the amino acids in skin. A chemical compound is formed which makes skin cells of the epidermis darker. Does Sun Labs use dye which can damage the skin? No, although the ingredient used as a chemical it is not harmful.

There are other products containing natural dyes which stain skin, giving it a dark color so that it appears to be tanned. This is not the case with sunless tanning products. Does Sun Labs use dye for this reason? No, they do not work by staining the skin.

These tanning products do not wash off like bronzers. Bronzers are a temporary way to apply color and are washed off at the end of the day. They do not produce a temporary effect but the results are not permanent either. Your tan will begin to fade after about a week as dead skin cells are shed. Does Sun Labs use dye to produce a permanent result? No, the results last about a week.

Does Sun Labs use dye to influence the color of your tan? At first, sunless tanning products were a poor substitution for a real tan. Most left hideous, strange colored streaks and disagreeable smells. However, they have come a long way. Many of these products actually have a pleasant scent and the liquid is bronze colored so that you do not have to guess while applying. Does Sun Labs use dye to give it a bronze color? No, the bronze color of the liquid allows you to apply the product evenly without leaving spots.

Does Sun Labs use dye or any other harmful ingredients? No, it is made with organic compounds. You will actually be doing your skin a great favor by using such a product as you will not have to expose it to harmful ultraviolet rays in order to get a tan.

If you do need to go out into the sun, you need to take precautions against sunburn by wearing a sun block. Although you may be sporting a natural looking dark tan, this does not mean that you cannot end up with a sunburn. Does Sun Labs use dye with a sunblock? No, you still have to take precautions against sun damage.

Does Sun Labs use dye in their products? The answer is that they do not need dye in their products for them to work. They contain an ingredient which reacts chemically in the body, causing the dead skin cells to turn brown. You have a perfectly natural looking tan without any of the damage to your skin by sunbathing.
