For seniors it can be very complicated to see them and recognize that the tiny insect has attached itself to their skin. They will embed themselves into a persons skin and become attached. Drink plenty of water. Summer months get really heated and without the proper hydration the body will become dehydrated. Dehydration will cause the skin to become dry and flaky.

Although, you plan to be out in the sun for only a few minutes, you never know when you just might get stuck out a little longer. Always have a few extra bottles of water on hand just in case.

Before coming from the outside make sure you inspect yourself all over to make sure ticks have not attached to your clothing. When coming inside remove all your clothing and put them in a special pile away from your other clothes. Check your body all over for ticks. Look for small dark areas that may resemble a mole, or dark spot.

Keep your refrigerator filled with ice cold drinks to help you stay hydrated during the summer. It is best to wait a few minutes from coming out of the heat before gulping down cold drinks. However, while you are on the outside you can sip on cool refreshing drinks.

Keep your cellphone with you at all times. Hard to believe that your phone can be of great assistance to you while outdoors. However, it can check the temperature on your phone and when you see it rising, you should be making your way inside as quickly as possible. Also, your cellphone can be used to call for help if you are ever in a crisis. If you feel as if you are becoming sick while out in the heat, call for assistance right away.

Keep a hat on during the hot times of the day. If you are outside avoid direct sunlight by wearing a wide brim hat. These hats are great to reduce sun exposure to the neck, head and face. Most people do not know it but the top of the head is one of the places that is exposed to sunlight first. People with very thin hair and fair skin are highly susceptible to the exposure.
