Tips For Proper Etiquette For A Hair Salon Appointment

By Sharon Weeks

It is essential for a woman to be pampered. This is the reason why spas and salons exist. These are the professional places where people can relieve the body of the stress from work. When you book an appointment for hairstyling, then you better remember proper etiquette for it. Here are great tips for you to follow when going to a salon.

First, you must make sure to never go there late. If you arrive at the hair salon a few minutes late of your reservation, then you should not be offended if ever you get a short shrift. You might end up losing your appointment altogether. Being late is your blunder and you have to take the responsibility for it. When being late is unavoidable, then call up the stylist to let them know about it.

You have a number of hairstyles you can choose from nowadays. They are most likely published in magazines geared toward fashion and beauty. Once you find something you like, bring a picture of these styles to your stylist. You can then discuss with him or her what is the most suitable one to have for your own.

Styling your hair will definitely take up a lot of time. As an extremely busy person, then having to spend ten minutes just for hairstyling should be enough. You have to make sure to inform the professional about how long you will spend for styling the hair. Avoid hairstyles that can take longer time to style.

It is important that you know how much the whole service cost. This is your responsibility as the client. Do not just assume what the price is based on what the price is in another spa. Also, avoid asking about it after the service has been provided. Otherwise, you might end up with an awkward and unpleasant surprise when you take your bill.

Speaking out when you got something you want a stylist to address is a given. You must make sure to let your professional know about it. However, just remember that speaking out is not necessarily being mean and oppressive. You must show a level of grace when speaking with the staff.

When you have taken a shine to the services offered to you by an expert, you better remember to leave a tip. Your normal gratuity rate for those working in a salon is around ten to twenty percent. Basically, this is customary. By tipping generously, you should be able to enjoy future benefits.

Keep your interaction with a stylist on a professional level. Never think that just because you have discussed a bit of your personal details in life with a professional, you are now best friends for life even outside of the business environment. Otherwise, you will find it awkward to raise up some concerns or issues.

When getting a hairstyle, keep your phone inside your bag. Only answer your cell phone or use it when you think that it is really necessary. Otherwise, you will come off as an extremely rude person. The stylist's work will also be affected if you are too focused on sending text messages, calling, or answering emails.
