Tips On Using A Self Tan Product For The Duration Of Pregnancy

By Susan Jumonville

From research that has been carried out over many years, it has been discovered that UV rays of the sun are harmful. This is why many people try to avoid the sun, and rather use a self tan product. These products come in many varieties, such as sprays or creams, and react with the skin's surface to produce a browner coloring. A person may use a self tan product to avoid damaging their skin from the natural suntan process.

For expectant women, there is the need to still feel beautiful and self tan product is a quick escape. With many available options in the market, it is important to consider the safety of both the mother as a direct user and the developing fetus.

Many people have felt that a sunbed is a safer way to get a tan. Research has been done on their effects as well, and has not revealed much positivity. The beds use the same UV rays as the sun, and therefore have the potential to cause the same problems. There are none of the harmful UV ray effects in a self tan product.

It is still not evident that they are harmful to the fetus, but they can harm the direct user. You must self tan product, because tanning booth, if used frequently can lead to complications which may spread to the placenta. This can be dangerous for both parties.

A sunbed is also very hot, and these intense temperatures are not advised for a baby in its first stages of growth. A self tan product produces no heat, and therefore will not increase or decrease the temperature of the baby. An expecting mother may also not like to lie flat for long durations. Lying in this way is not good for the baby either, as the mother's blood flow is hampered.

The best option for an expecting lady is a self tan product. They have no side-effects, and actually take care of the skin, rather than damaging it. Its purpose is simply to enhance a brown coloring on the skin, and any excess of the lotion or spray will be easily washed away.

During the start of pregnancy it may be recommended that you rather avoid using any self tan product. Although they are not particularly harmful, they do contain the ingredient dihydroxyacetone, or DHA. Rather stay very cautious during the most important time of your baby's development.

The main ingredient just mentioned also has a rather unpleasant smell, which a pregnant lady, considering her heightened senses, could find overbearing. If you are pregnant, test the self tan product on a small section of your body first, just to make sure your skin does not react to its ingredients. A self tan product can be used during pregnancy, but caution is still advised.
