Effective Hairdressing Advise Yields Best Results

By Dennis E. Price

For most people, weekly trips to the salon are a thing of fantasy. In reality, every month and a half is how often the average person gets a professional treatment. Heeding some useful hairdressing advise could be the key to maintaining beautiful tresses in the interim.

The assumption that a shampoo's effectiveness is based on how big a lather is makes is a common misconception. The fact, some suds actually tend to leave behind a residue that can makes hair dull quicker. The simple solution is to try using a cleanser that is sulfate free.

Although warm water feels great while washing hair, it is not necessarily the best way to finish the job. When all the business is complete, turn off the hot and give a final rinse using just the cold. The cooler temps have a calming effect on the cuticles, causing them to lay flatter and look sleeker.

Using a towel to dry one's hair is also something to avoid. Though absorbent, cotton fibers have an agitating effect on the cuticles and causes them to flair open and appear frizzy. Instead, try to squeeze as much water from tresses as possible and then allow the air to do the drying for at least ten minutes before applying heat from a blow dryer.

Applying styling products while waiting on the air dry will help them to absorb into the shaft a little better. Instead of blow drying all the hair at once, try doing it in sections, going root to tip using a round brush . A cool down between heating each portion both adds body and helps to set the desired style.

Glazing treatments are readily available at most drug stores and can be easily applied between visits for a smoother, shinier finish. When seeing one's stylist is not an option, heeding wise hairdressing advise in the mean time can help keep hair looking good. Altering grooming routines just a little may be just the thing to make the difference.
