Using Facial Exercises For Eyes

By Ines Flores

When a person ages one of the first places that it is noticed is in their face. The eye area is especially vulnerable to wrinkling and creasing. Many people solve this problem by using cosmetic surgery to tighten the skin surrounding their faces. Others have discovered facial exercises for eyes as a natural and far less expensive solution.

Wrinkling in this area can be caused by several things that people do without thinking about them. Squinting in the sun or when reading is one way to get them. Other activities include smoking or spending too much time in the sun either while working or when playing. People who have lighter complexions are also more apt to develop eye wrinkling at a young age because their skin does not contain pigmentation that protects them from harmful UV rays from the sun.

Starting eye aerobics before the damage is done is the best way to ensure good results but many of the techniques available can help diminish lines that are already present. Practicing these muscle contractions twice daily has been shown to lessen the appearance of laugh lines, puffiness and drooping lids. The effort used to learn how to properly execute these moves may pay off in an absence of wrinkling.

When you begin these practices it is important to remember to moisturize the eye area first. This skin is very delicate and can be easily damaged when rubbed too vigorously. Rough treatment can also cause more wrinkling to appear after you have finished working on this area. Knowing how to administer the proper techniques on moisturized skin takes practiced skill. It has been suggested that plain water will work in place of moisturizers when necessary.

Eye tapping is one form of exercising this area. This exercise helps to reduce puffiness around the eye by stimulating blood flow to the area. Using the pad of your fingers begin tapping in the corner of your eye nearest the nose. Gently tap the area just under the eye working to the outer edge near the temple and back again five to ten times for each eye.

For tension relief in the face and eye area there is a specific exercise available. Simply use two fingers to gently pinch up the skin around the brow and gently roll the two sides together to ease tension and stress. Another simple practice used for diminishing wrinkles is to place the index fingers of both hands on either side of a line and gently apply pressure for a count of ten. Repeat this action twice daily in sets of ten and you should notice improvement of lines treated.

The most difficult exercise to master involves the set of muscles located in the under-eye area. It needs to be performed in front of a mirror to ensure proper results. While looking in the mirror slowly attempt to lift your lower eyelids in a series of small movements. Beginners should try to accomplish three small steps while working towards five steps after some practice. Getting this process correct will take a lot of practice and determination but the end results will make it worth the effort.

All exercise programs take time to show results and these are no different but if you are diligent and continue doing them daily the long term results may combat obvious signs of aging and save money spent on unnecessary surgeries and expensive treatments.
