Vein Treatment For Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are defined as enlarged veins that appear on the body, especially the feet or legs. Side effects for medical treatments include slight discomfort, bruising, skin discoloration and swelling. Less common and more severe side effects include scarring and blood clotting. Severe side effects are more common in vein stripping and ligation. Usually, you will only experience minor side effects. Lifestyle changes can improve varicose veins. This is a good option if your varicose veins are not too severe and symptoms are few. You may just need lifestyle changes instead of other medical procedures.

Physical exercise can help blood move through your veins. Do some simple muscle toning and leg exercises to improve your muscles. Do not stand for long periods of time. Also avoid sitting for a long time and try not to cross your legs. If it is possible, you want to keep your legs raised above your heart to increase blood flow. Eat healthy and make good lifestyle changes. Losing weight, if you are obese, can benefit your health.

Avoid tight clothes which can have adverse effect on varicose veins. Select more loose fitted attire that lets the body breathe and wouldn't be tight around your thighs, legs or waist. Women should avoid high heeled shoes. Low heeled shoes are a good option because they will assist to tone calf muscles which is good for your body.

Compression stockings are another good option for clothing. They give your legs a gently pressure, offering more pressure than support pantyhose. You will need to be fitted specially for compression stockings. You can find them at medical supplies stores, or at pharmacies.

Choosing how you deal with varicose veins is entirely up to you. Treatments can be used to improve how veins look. While treatments help with the healing of varicose veins, it does not necessarily mean new ones will not form. If you are not sure what the best option is for you, talk to your doctor.
