Information About Keratin Treatment Shampoo And Conditioner

By Shawn Hunter

Human hair is made up of a natural protein called keratin. This protein forms the building block of hair and determines its characteristics and appearance. It is the bonds in the protein that cause the frizzing and curling that is characteristic in some people. Companies found a way of undoing characteristics such as frizzing which some people do not like using of chemical product. It is on this basis that keratin treatment shampoo and conditioner among other products were invented.

The various keratin shampoos and conditioners on the market today have the ability to break the bonds in hair to make it straight and good-looking. However, the effect is not permanent and the hair reacquires its natural characteristics after some time. Most products will straighten and smooth hair for at least more than two months if proper upkeep is given.

A huge market exists for keratin products, making manufacturers to pour into production. As a result, many products are sold in different places, with some being excellent while others can damage the hair instead of making it. Consulting a stylist about what brand is best is a good idea to avoid trouble. Some clients also write brand reviews, which can be helpful in one way or another.

The length of time the application process takes varies depending on how long the hair is. However, most sessions last more than an hour. The first step involves cleaning the hair thoroughly using a suitable shampoo. Once well cleaned, it is blow dried before the chemical is applied. The application process has to be done section by section by use of hands. After that, time is allowed for the product to act on the hair. One has to sit and wait for a up to a half an hour.

After a half an hour, another blow dry is done before a hot iron is used to treat the chemical in. The iron is usually at a very high temperature, in the excess of 450 degrees. This process does not last long because if overdone, it could the iron could burn the head. Once done, one is required to allow a period of about 72 hours before having the head styled or cleaned.

The process results in shinier, straighter, and smoother hair. Although there is no proving evidence, some manufacturers argue that the hair is also healthier. Such hair makes one look more beautiful and they have to spend less time doing their hair. In essence, time needed to prepare in the morning is cut by half.

Since the effects do not last forever, it takes proper upkeep for them to last longer. If badly maintained, one may have to redo the whole process in less than a month. Proper upkeep involves regular washing, combing, and application of hair conditioner among many others. Lifestyle can also influence the length of time the effects can last before they wear out.

Products vary in cost, strength, availability, suitability, and size among others. A product that may work well on one person may not do very well on another. Also, some products produce longer lasting effects than other. It is best to try a few before settling on one.
