Alternatives To All Natural Organic Skin Care Products

By Nelda Powers

There is a great trend towards cutting chemicals and processed ingredients out of our lives, and becoming more natural. This trend is great for the environment and for the health of individuals. However, not everyone is able to afford all natural organic skin care products and hormone-free, free range meats.

While these are all good things to do, they require knowledge, time, and often money that not everyone has. When you make the commitment to a more simple lifestyle, it may take some time to work up to these things. However, even if you cannot afford fancy and expensive options, there are things you can do to begin taking steps toward a healthier lifestyle.

Processed foods are one of most common bad choices. We should be eating primarily whole foods, made from ingredients we can identify. Simply eating real food will go a long way towards improving your lifestyle, and it will probably also save you money, as processed junk foods can add up to excessive expense. Here are a few ways to make your diet more simple.

1. Meat. Even if you cannot afford free-range, hormone free meat all the time, you can avoid overly processed frozen meats like chicken nuggets and fish sticks. If you want these things, buy the meat and the breading, and make them from scratch. The meat you buy should be easily identifiable as the meat that it is, even without reading the label.

2. Sweets (Cakes, cookies, etc.). Walk right past the snack cakes and packaged cookies that usually occupy an entire aisle of the grocery store. There are far too many preservatives and chemicals, and these bakes goods are usually a lot higher in calories and fat than they need to be. Try baking your own sweets. Your house will smell amazing, and you will save money as well as being healthier.

3. Bread. Rather than white bread made from bleached flour, look for whole wheat options. Make sure you buy breads labeled "100% whole wheat" rather than just "whole grain, " as the whole grain products may still be excessively processed. An even better option is to learn to make your own bread at home.

You can also make changes in your beauty routine and your cleaning products. This does not need to involve expensive options. There are some alternatives that can be made from ingredients you already have in your home. Vinegar, for instance, makes a wonderful, chemical-free cleaner. It can be used to wash counters, to clean a coffee maker, and even to mop the floor. It has a natural cleaning power and does not leave any harsh odors or fumes. There are many household ingredients that can be used as beauty products, too. Olive oil makes a wonderful moisturizer.

If you are unable to afford organic foods and all natural organic skin care products, do not feel as though there are no changes you can make. If you can't take every step now, take the ones that you can take. Check into food assistance programs, and explore wholesale retailers, too; you may be able to afford more than you think you can, with assistance. Going natural doesn't have to mean going broke!
