Loving the breathtaking scenery that water brings does not automatically make you a good swim coach. It requires more that fantasy for water to be a successful swim coach but the love for water is just a requisite for a successful swim coach career. After being out of swimming for a while ones skills are prone to become blunt if not obsolete hence there is need to sharpen them. One sure way of doing this is by enrolling in swimming lessons. This will not only improve your believe in yourself but will also make your team believe in you. It is not always an easy decision, but is worth every minute you spend acquiring those pertinent skills.

While coaching swimmers, you will spend a substantial amount of your time watching swimmers do the swimming. This does not mean that you remain idle, but it calls for you to scout for skills and talents demonstrated by your swimmers. For example, it is time to note that player doing so well with one technique and aide them improve on the same. Failure to receive feedback is the beginning of your downfall. One very fundamental source of reliable feedback is from members of your team. Capitalize on an open communication so that they can be free to express their opinion on how you are performing as a coach.

You need to assess yourself and the best way of doing this is by devising a mechanism of receiving feedback. Give other people a chance to gauge your performance as a coach. When seeking for a reliable source of information on your performance, your swimmers should be the target. Sometimes it is often hard for them to open up if you are very strict with them, hence it may help if you loosen up and let them talk about how you are faring on with coaching.

As a coach you may be tempted to think of yourself as the best. In fact you are in need of many lessons so be ready to take some not only from fellow coaches but also from your swimmers. In any form of coaching, experience is not measured by the number of years spent in the game, but the number of lessons taken from the game.

Just like the class work scenario swimming calls for a combination of both hand work and talent. It is not a must that the most hardworking students scope the top position in class similarly the most hardworking swimmers does not necessarily wins. By this I am not belittling the power of hard work, but am saying that it should be accompanied by a genuine talent.

To excel in anything calls for discipline and coaching requires that you possess more of it. Be a good example and be assured that your swimmers will follow suit. Discipline calls for punctuality in keeping time and always putting a clear line between social life and your profession. Having a list of rules that swimmers should adhere to will not help if you are the first one to break these rules.

Enjoying what you do will assure you success in it. Lastly, always remember that you are just a facilitator as the most important coach lives within the player. It is however your task to develop this real coach so just acts as their assistant.
