Tips For License Applicants With The Atlanta Dds

By Ruthie Livingston

The process of renewing the drivers license can be time-consuming, unless it is being done online. Worse still when you are applying for one, you are required to meet several requirements that many people do not understand. Hence, their applications are rejected because of lack of certain vital documents, forcing them to apply again. The tips below are written based on this realization, and they will help you have an easy time with the Atlanta dds.

Most local departments do not provide all the services provided at the headquarters. Their services are tailored to meet the needs of the locals, and hence, if you require something that is not required by most locals, you may have to travel to the main offices. The good news, though, is that you may be allowed to make personal appointments.

Most of these services are charged. Hence, it is important to inquire online about the exact amount. This should be easily available on the department website, and it should be uniform throughout the state. In most cases, you will pay in cash; however, it is important to know whether alternative payment platforms are allowed so that you can avoid carrying cash.

Several documents are also needed from those making the application. The most important is the DDS-1 form, which can be downloaded online, printed, filled and submitted at the department. The school of the applicant should also certify and sign it before being submitted. The department also requires that the parent sign of the two affidavit forms issued in accordance with the training of the applicant.

You are also required to provide documents of identity. This is normally the birth certificate or a copy if the original is not easily available. Those who have passports may also use them. The need for these documents is to prevent aliens or underage individuals from accessing licenses. One must also have the social security card during the application.

You will also be required to prove that you are a resident of Atlanta. There are so many people who live in this jurisdiction, but they are not officially registered as residents. Hence, before you are approved, you need to provide proof such as a light, water, or gas bill, or a bank statement.

A road test is also required. The officers at the department will have to test your capabilities to drive. They need to ascertain that you understand the road signs other than just being able to drive a car. You cannot be issued with a license if you fail this test. Hence, prepare yourself ahead of time and make an appointment with the DDS.

Timing is also key. If you are not careful, you may take a lot of time at the department. Avoid the early opening hours, unless you want to be the first to be served. Days before and after holidays and end moths are also not ideal.

Having met the above requirements, you should be on your way to owning a drivers license or renewal. Do not forget a court affidavit in case of a name change. This will ensure you do not get any difficulties with the DDS.
