Important Information On Cellulaze Somerville Residents Need To Have

By George Wagner

Cellulite is a major cause of low self-esteem among the persons it affects. It is mainly characterized by dimples and bumps on the skin in areas such as the buttocks, the thighs and the abdomen. The many creams that are advertised in the market are hardly effective. One of the break through treatments is known as cellulaze. If they plan on undergoing cellulaze Somerville residents need to understand a few basics regarding the treatment.

Before discussing how cellulaze achieves its effect, it is important to first understand what the underlying problem in cellulite is. Thin skin, stiff collagen tissue, and fat deposition are the three main predisposing factors for the condition. Fat that is deposited underneath the skin gets trapped into small compartments of connective tissue forming bumps and dimples. This is what gives cellulite its appearance. Treatment should be targeted at breaking down these compartments to give rise to newer collagen tissue.

Cellulaze works by targeting the pockets of fat under the skin and damaged connective tissue which are all believed to be predisposing factors of cellulite. The area being treated may be numbed using local anesthesia but you will remain awake. Several small cuts are made in the area of interest cannulas are inserted through them. A laser beam that is delivered through the cannulas will be used to liquefy the pockets of fat and to breakdown connective tissue.

Each session of treatment lasts between one and one and a half hours. You will be allowed to go home on the same day except in instances where complications are encountered. The incision wounds should not be a cause for worry since they usually heal within a few days. You may notice drainage of fluid from the incision sites for one to two days after the procedure. The drainage usually stops spontaneously in 24 to 48 hours.

There is not much in terms of preparation that is needed but one will be well advised to stop drugs or habits likely to affect outcomes. For instance you will be advised to smoking two weeks before the procedure at the very latest. This is because nicotine (a component of tobacco) hinders wound healing and will therefore delay recovery. Blood thinners should also be stopped for some time.

You may see some changes immediately and more improvements will be seen in subsequent weeks. Optimal results are usually visible after about twelve months. There is a need to avoid engaging in strenuous physical activities for a period of one to two weeks. Expect some bruising and swelling in the treated area but these should resolve spontaneously within a few days.

Do not despair if it takes a bit long for the changes to start showing. With this treatment, you will need to be very patient. Success is pegged on the natural processes of healing and remodeling which take some time. Bear in mind that there is inter-individual variation in the success rates. Factors responsible for these differences include skill of the surgeon and severity of cellulite.

Cellulaze and liposuction are sometimes performed in the same setting. The success rates have been found to be higher when the two procedures are performed concurrently than when they are done in isolation. A discussion with your doctor beforehand will help you determine what is likely to be effective in your case.
