You Are Just A Few Steps Away From Clear Skin

By Steve Jones

People who suffer from acne are often embarrassed and ashamed by their red bumpy skin. However, improving your acne situation is much easier than you think if you have the right advice and information. This article contains a number of pieces of advice that will help you improve your skin and acne situation.

You might remember the acne medicine commercial which said that you don't get acne from eating too many chocolate bars, but the truth is that refined sugars and carbohydrates DO add to the problem. Your acne can clear up as long as you eat refined sugars and carbohydrates only in moderation.

If you have any toothpaste lying around the house, try applying a dab directly to the site of a pimple. Toothpaste helps to dry your pimples out, and can be used as an overnight solution. Make sure that you apply in moderation, as too much toothpaste can irritate your skin.

One of the best ways to reduce your acne is to reduce your level of stress. The hormone caused by stress, called cortisol, has been directly linked to causing acne breakouts. To help yourself relax, try moderate exercise techniques such as Yoga or Tai Chi, or simple breathing and meditation exercises.

To cure or prevent acne, wash your face twice a day with warm water and a sulphur-based acne soap. Gently massage the soap into your skin, rather than scrubbing, and don't use water that's too hot. Hot water and scrubbing can remove essential oils from your skin, which in turn tends to dry it out and makes it more susceptible to acne.

To treat acne, use diluted tea tree oil on clean skin and allow it to dry. Put on an oil-free moisturizer and then go to bed. This will minimize the redness caused by acne and alleviate any pain and swelling. It can also help kill bacteria on your face that may be causing the acne.

Hormonal acne may require more than cleansers, astringents, and moisturizers. Hormonal acne can point to hormone imbalances, which are especially common among women. Certain medical conditions like polycystic ovarian syndrome (or PCOS) may cause hormonal acne breakouts. Talk to your doctor about starting an intervention such as birth control if your hormonal acne is a concern.

Smoking can have a profound impact on your skin and can often yield acne. Smoking releases particles that can clog your pores and harm your body from the inside out. Every cigarette harms your internal capacity to reduce toxins, often causing acne as a result. Limit or quit smoking entirely to improve the way your face looks.

As tempting as it can be, avoid trying to remove blackheads and pimples by poking and prodding at your face. Squeezing and rupturing acne breakouts, can lead to further irritation and even infection. Picking can also push germs and debris further down into the pore and may eventually cause scarring. It is much better to treat your acne by using medication and then letting nature run its course.

Always wipe the sweat away! For acne sufferers with an active lifestyle it is important to remember to wipe away the excess sweat during exercise and to use a mild face cleanser after exercise to remove dried sweat and dirt. Additionally it might be wise to use a type of gentle exfoliation to take away any remaining dead skin once or twice a week.

Try to avoid wearing face masks, if you play sports and you suffer from acne. These masks cause you to sweat on your face and sweat is one of the major causes of acne. If you have to wear a face mask, be sure to wash your face after you are done playing your sport.

Aspirin can prove to be a cure for acne blemishes. Aspirin contains high levels of salicylic acid, which can help to rid your skin of blemishes and is easy to use. Just crush a couple of aspirins and mix with water. Put this mixture directly on your blemishes and watch them disappear quickly.

As was stated in the beginning of this article, acne can be very embarrassing and shameful for people and can even cause stress. However, improving your acne situation is so much easier if you have the right information to treat it. Apply this article's advice and be on your way to beautiful, acne-free skin.
