Doing Sunless Tan Picture Editing

By Haywood Hunter

Models these days always opt to have a darker skin tone because it looks relatively nicer when they are featured on the magazine. The only thing about getting a tan would be the grueling process about baking in the sun for a long time. In order for models to skip these process, editors in the industry do a sunless tan picture editing session so that the models look darker. Just to give an overview to beginners, here is how to do a very simple sunless tan picture editing work.

The process of sunless tan picture editing in photos is actually very simple however it is important that one possesses the proper software for this task. Probably the best one to use would be the Adobe Photoshop CS3 or CS4 because it has that kind of option. Other sunless tan picture editing software may be used but the most recommended one would be Photoshop.

The very first thing to do when doing sunless tan picture editing is to run Photoshop and open up the photo that is to be edited. Now the next thing to do would be to scroll over to the right most area of the window and find the layer option. Once it is found, right click on the background layer and click on the duplicate layer button.

One must now be put into a special mode in Photoshop by clicking on the Q button in the keyboard. Select the black background so that it will be easy to see which parts are going to be affected. Then click on the brush tool and start painting that parts to be fixed.

When that is finished, press the Q button again to get out of the quick mask mode. Go to the main toolbar and press select then click on the inverse option. Now take a look at the photo and see that the parts that should be edited are highlighted.

Then click on the button called the solid fill color button and select the color pantone 175 c to change the skin color. After that, look for the opacity level of the photo and change it to around eighty to eighty five percent. When one has done that, he will see that the skin of the person is darker.

From there, use the smudge tool and blend the tanned area with the other parts of the skin so that it does not look artificial. The problem with the usual sunless tan picture editing is that the skin tone in one part of the body is not proportional to the rest of it. So in when doing sunless tan picture editing, always make sure to blend it in very carefully so that it looks real.

In a nutshell, those are some really useful sunless tan picture editing techniques that can be used in order to make the model look nicer. However, one must always remember that in sunless tan picture editing, he must be very observant when it comes to the details because sunless tan picture editing is a double edged sword. It can either beautify a photo or completely destroy it in an instant.
