Many Consumers Choose Organic Skin Care Products

By Kerri Turner

Many individuals have concerns regarding their skin's health. However, selecting the most suitable cream or lotion can be a daunting task when there is such a vast array of brands on today's market. Organic skin care products are an alternative that many consumers find appealing.

Most individuals are regularly exposed to numerous chemicals as they go through life. While much of this exposure cannot be avoided, a substantial amount comes from products that people buy on a daily basis. This is why numerous men and women feel that they are acting in their best interest to use organic formulas whenever possible.

The surface of an individual's skin has been dubbed the "third kidney". This is because one of its primary functions is to eliminate many of the aforementioned pollutants from a person's body. For this reason, appropriate care of this complicated organ is a vital consideration for virtually everyone.

Natural lotions and creams can be found in a wide variety of blends. Some are formulated to help prevent wrinkles, while others are intended to clear up acne. There are also special products such as toners, masks, and formulas that offer several benefits, such as a moisturizing agent and a sunscreen. A person may also select formulas that are intended for specific areas of the body, such as eye creams or moisturizers for the lips.

Formulas that are categorized as organic are similar to conventional brands with regard to the benefits they offer. However, their ingredients do not include the chemicals and additives used in most traditional brands. This is because chemical-based ingredients can harm the environment as well as present potential health hazards to consumers. This causes numerous individuals to shun such lotions and creams in lieu of organic blends.

Natural brands are also usually hypoallergenic. In most instances, such blends do not cause the irritations and rashes that are sometimes seen with conventional creams and lotions. However, an allergic reaction to any brand is always a possibility, and therefore if a person discovers that a specific cream is irritating, he or she should select another product.

Many people wonder how they can be sure that the items they select are really organic. Unfortunately, the labeling of cosmetic products is not regulated, and therefore companies can be somewhat vague when listing ingredients. However, generally speaking, a cosmetic company should attempt to follow the same regulations followed by food manufacturers. Therefore, skin care formulas that are labeled organic should contain over 95 percent natural ingredients.

Some manufacturers that produce creams and lotions of this type are environmentally conscious as well. Such companies often use recyclable materials for the packaging of their products. This helps reduce pollution and waste and also cuts costs during production, as is usually the case when recycled substances are used.

In the future, more consumers will likely opt for all natural skin formulas. However, as mentioned earlier, allergic reactions can occur when any new product is used. For this reason, if a person experiences a rash or any kind of irritation, the product should be immediately discarded. In addition, it is always one's best interest to discuss the use of any new organic skin care products with a dermatologist.
