A Look At Some Healthy Herbs And Spices

People are more prone to ailments these days due to a way of living that is full of stress and lacking physical activity. This is further worsened by unwise food choices. High mortality rates are now associated with hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. People are cramming for medicines to aid them with these ailments. Pharmaceutical companies are busy with their laboratories searching for medicines to combat these. However, there is a turn back towards finding cures provided by nature. These cures have been an old knowledge, almost as old as man himself. People are now more aware of the curative and preventive benefits such as healthy herbs and spices.

Garlic is one of the best known spices that offer health benefits. It helps lower amounts of cholesterol present in the body. Cholesterol, when very high, clogs the vessels causing hypertension. Garlic also has an anticoagulant property which lowers clumping of red blood cells. It is not recommended for those who are undergoing surgeries.

The herb known as rosemary contains antioxidants that are potent in strengthening blood vessels. It also lowers blood pressure. Those who are genetically predisposed to cataracts may also find them useful as it can help prevent cataract occurrences among those who take them regularly.

Gaining wide popularity lately is cinnamon. When paired with honey, it can provide curative properties to a wide variety of diseases. Hair loss, toothache, arthritis, and bladder problems are but some of the ailments that can be cured by this herb. The good thing is that this are easily bought as these are common food ingredients.

Cerasee is an herb used to make Jamaican bush tea. It is rich in antioxidants, hence it is a very potent blood purifier. Young individuals, however, are keeping away from it due to its very bitter taste, but the benefits far outweighs its taste and demand for this is still high.

Cayanne pepper is rich in capsaicin. This is good for those wanting to decrease weight as it increases the metabolism of the body. Metabolism is the chemical process to sustain the body. The higher your metabolism, the larger the number of calories that your body burns even at rest. Cayanne pepper also helps relieve minor indigestion. The active compound capsaicin, which is responsible for the benefits offered, can also be found on other chili and peper varieties.

Those suffering from memory problems can benefit from Gingko biloba. This herb has long been used by the Chinese and Japanese to enhance mental function. This causes an increase of blood flow to the body and the brain. Many organs benefit from this increased blood flow as well.

Sage has the active ingredient flavonoid and phenolic compounds. It has antiinflammatory properties as well. Arthritis, joint pains, and other inflammatory processes in the body are minimized by having this as an addition to daily intake.

Going natural is currently the trend these days. There is an issue with some people being not able to handle intake of these supplements. However, this is not really a problem. A little amount of these spices and healthy herbs can be added to meals without one noticing them. An active lifestyle paired with natural organic foods, vegetable sources, and exercise can really go a long way in warding off diseases and promoting longevity.
