Medical Aesthetics Education

By Lucy Cho

To gain an education in medical aesthetics (sometimes spelled esthetics), you typically need to attend a beauty school. Going to an aesthetics school can be a great way to build upon a career in beauty or medicine. However, many can get their career started through completing a medical aesthetics training program at a beauty college or other institution. In some states, there are medical degrees or certifications required before licensure can be obtained for medical esthetics, but this isn't always the case. Before you get too far, make sure you don't need a medical degree you don't have in your state. If you find that regulations don't preclude you enrolling in these kinds of courses, then you can look to the topics below to see what areas of this branch of the beauty industry you might learn about at a beauty school.

Gaining knowledge in medical aesthetics can include training in injections. We shall first look into injections training. Subsequently, we will address yet another thing your esthetics education could include in several ways-tattoos. Finally, we will explore one more significant element of an esthetics education that you could learn, aesthetic laser remedies.

Getting training at an aesthetics school for injections could cover both medical and cosmetic applications for injections. Products like Botox are used in both ways frequently. For example, Botox is well known for its use in reducing the appearance of wrinkles, but it also can be used for treating chronic migraine headaches. Medical aesthetics educations that cover injections would also deal with products like Radiesse, Juvederm, and other dermal fillers. The array of treatments that could be opened through injections training is large.

You might not have thought about tattoos when you started looking into medical aesthetics, but you could learn about multiple treatments that involve them. Permanent cosmetics (or makeup that is tattooed) is a popular branch of treatments you may learn about. You could learn to apply permanent lip fill, permanent eyeliner, or even beauty marks. That's not all though, you could also learn how to remove tattoos. Many a tattoo has left its bearer with regrets, and you could learn to provide a way to rid their skin of their now unwanted ink. That procedure is done using a laser, which brings us to our final subject, lasers.

Laser training could open yet another valuable section of treatments you could present to customers. Apart from removing tattoos, you could also provide laser skin tightening, laser skin resurfacing, or laser hair removal. These remedies are several esthetics treatments that estheticians can provide.

You can gain a great many new medical aesthetics skills by signing up for an aesthetics school, but before applying make certain you know it is what you genuinely wish to do.
