How To Achieve A Beautiful Hue Using The Best Self Tanning Lotion

By Haywood Hunter

Little did Coco Chanel know that, when she walked off the plane to meet photographers sporting a body-wide bronze, she'd be starting a fashion that would last an age. Before that day, tans were a symbol of the working classes. There's no more effective way to glamorize than with a splendid bronze, but it's safer to achieve it using the best self tanning lotion.

In an age of skin cancer, we avoid the sun. Self tan is today's solution. You have two choices: spend a fortune on a salon treatment or conveniently and inexpensively buy the golden hue in a bottle.

If you've never done it before, bronzing can be frightening. The memory of television stars donning orange hued streaks is ever present. It doesn't take much more to scare us away from the fake tan forever. It's needless to avoid it anymore, with this advice.

One aspect you'll want to avoid when making your brand selection will be the odor typically present in these creams. It's produced by the ingredient that dyes the epidermis, called DHA. You won't be able to tell how strong it is immediately because it only matures a few hours after application. Test your cream on a modest section of skin and see what develops in time before committing.

Some products are able to mask the odor using additional fragrances. Others use less of the active ingredient. The latter products will need to be applied in layers as they won't create an immediately strong color.

You'll want to look for a lotion that's quick drying. Some products will have you standing around naked in front of a fan for hours waiting to dry. Obviously this is not ideal, especially when there are creams available that dry in ten minutes.

One disadvantage of a few hours' hanging around is that the product stains fabric. You're sure to end up with tinged couches and gowns. It's impossible to wear lotion wet on your skin for that long without rubbing it off in places, which will give you a patchy look.

Look for a product that suits your personality, too. Spray on self tans are ideal for beginners because of their ease of use. Creams are great for the seasoned user and those with a little more time.

Your complexion will be a consideration. Paler skins will prefer a lighter tan as it will look more natural. Darker skins will want a deep bronze color. Faces will need a subtle hue in comparison to legs.

Even if you have the best tanner possible, if you don't prepare your body, disaster can strike. Shower first, using a good exfoliator to slough off dead skin that will give an uneven look. Cover yourself with a light moisturizing cream, using an oilier one on ankles, wrists and elbows, which tend to darken too much. Then wait half an hour for your skin to regain its natural PH balance.

It's easy to get that healthy smolder without sun damage. Excellent preparation is a must. However, never forget to choose the very best self tanning lotion.
