What Consumers Should Know About Tanning Products

By Haywood Hunter

Everyone is looking for the best tan. Although it is now known that staying in the sun is harmful to your skin many tanning products are available that one can use to reach the same results without the chance of getting skin cancer. If you were unsure about some of the items there are some things that you should know before choosing a item.

Most items that are used incorporate the skin cells to change color. This is done with a chemical called dihydroxyacetone. It works by only darkening the outer layer which is dead skin. This does not cause undue damage to the body when applied directly to the skin. It is worn and helps to accelerate a tan doing normal activities.

One must note that just like staying in the sun has consequences so does using the material without sunblock. There is not protection included in the item so you need to apply something to cover the skin for long periods of time. This will provide you with an additional barrier between you and the sun.

Another item that is offered are pills. You can take them and they work internally, but have a greater side effect on people. This works by using a color additive component to the body. You will not want to try these as they are found to be cause liver damage, orange skin color, impaired vision, and hives.

If you read the instructions you will find that it gives you a time line for seeing the results. It does not act the same for every person. But the guidelines are twenty four hours to see how it works on your skin.

Tanning products come in all shapes and types. Some can be applied externally, while others are taken internally. Both can work, but they each have their advantages and disadvantages. Be sure that you understand what is involved when you use the material. If you notice any side effects discontinue taking the material and see a doctor.
