Straightening your hair in a safe and easy way

By Thomas Walsh

Straightening your hair is generally not a hard task, but if it's done the wrong way you run the risk of damaging your hair through burns. In this article we'll provide you a few simple tips on how to straighten your hair in an easy way.

The most important thing to be able to straighten your hair successfully is to choose the right hair straightener. For short hair, you should pick one with narrow plates, so that you can easily iron smaller sections of your hair. For longer hair, you should choose one with broader plates, as a straightener with narrow plates will require a lot of time to straighten longer hair.

For the best result, you should also consider the heat settings of your device. If you have fine or slightly damaged hair, you should use less heat, and if your hair is thicker, you should use more. This way you will not put extra strain on your hair.

It's also of utmost importance to prepare you hair ahead of the straighening. Wash it with a volumizing shampoo, and use a mousse that protects from the heat. Then blow dry the hair to create more volume and brush it out with a natural bristle brush.

Now we're ready to start straightening the hair. The first step would be to divide your hair into sections for easier handling. Make sure your flat iron is preheated and then start straightening you hair, section by section. Start close to the roots and slide the plates down your hair at a steady pace. Work your way through the sections until you have straightened them all. Apply some hair spray to fix your look, and some shine spray for a glossier look.

Using these basic tips you should be able to straighten your hair easily, without running the risk of damaging or burning your hair.
